Established in 2001 Bolt FM is a youth-led community radio station in the north-east of Glasgow. Bolt FM serves the communities of Royston, Blackhill, Germiston, Provanmill, Robroyston, Barmulloch, Sighthill, Springburn and beyond.
Bolt FM has empowered young people to own and operate their own radio station since 2001 – giving them a unique voice in their community. The average age of the board is 21 with many young people going on to study in a related subject at college/ university.
Bolt FM are currently running radio training using our portable studio at the following locations Haghill, Cranhill, Ruchazie, Riddrie and Blackhill/Provanmill. For more information on training opportunities click here.
Using local young people as peer trainers, Bolt FM runs a training programme for young people in DJ skills, arts development, drama and music, participation and broadcast radio production
The project works closely with partners in a wide variety of organisations including Glasgow Kelvin College, local community police, drugs services, youth workers, housing associations, libraries and churches.
